highschool au!
Frankly Jon found highschool tropes exhausting, which was unfortunate because he occasionally lived them. The particular one that was the most annoying was 'bully the weird nerd who thinks he's smarter than everyone,' mostly because it ended damaged notebooks, occasional bruises and, worst of all, wasted time. So much wasted time.
Jon was smart though, and even if he didn't have the best common sense he learned how to keep under the radar most of the time. If keeping his mouth shut on occasion meant he could have a peaceful day he could manage, most of the time. Sometimes he couldn't.
Today was one of those times.
Earlier in the day he heard some comments from one of the brutes about Martin, of all people, something not necessarily strange given Martin was a bit of a chatterbox but unpleasant all the same. That may not have been enough to have him say anything- Martin was fine, he guessed, in a way that reminded Jon of eager dogs- if they hadn't brought up Martin's mother.
Maybe it was just nonsense, maybe there was some sort of rumor going around, whatever the reason the talk existed it rubbed Jon the wrong way, and he made the incredibly stupid decision of getting the group's attention and sassing them.
Yeah, that didn't go great.
In the end he managed to get away, losing his notebook to them and sporting a split lip for his trouble. He was pretty sure he lost them when he slammed right into someone down the empty, after school English hall.
"Oof- for god's sake, watch where you're going!" He shot out testily, because he apparently never learned.

He ducks in again then, settling on something a little longer, a little more lingering. Just as chaste as before, but he's relishing the closeness and the warmth between them.

It turns out he was wrong.
Maybe later he'd dissect that, try to figure out what made it different, but it was. It was warm and nice, even if it was likely laughably simple the way they were stumbling around it it. He could recognize that simply being close to Martin, sharing a small intimacy with one of the very few people he ever trusted let alone cared for, was thrilling in some way. He tests a slight shift of angles before taking a breath against Martin's lips and pulling back some.
"That was... nice." He says, a little dazed like only a loser teenager could be after such a chaste kiss.

It made a difference, didn't it?
"--you think that's why your gram wanted you to shut the door? She doesn't want us kissing?"
no subject
He doesn't know how to word it, glancing away as he tried to formulate something less embarrassing than 'she must have realized before I did I fancied you a bit and something came of it.' He clears his throat. "It was teasing, trust me. She's horrid."
no subject
He takes a seat on the edge of his bed, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Um- thanks, though. That kiss was- it was nice." He'd do it again.
no subject
Jon glances over to regard him, unsure of how one proceeded in this sort of situation. Frankly he didn't even know what he wanted, everything happened so fast he mostly went along with what felt right at the time. If he went with what felt right now he'd suggest kissing again, for comparative experience and what not.
That didn't really help with longterm plans, though. He didn't really know what this was supposed to mean. "It was. I never thought- I always assumed kissing would be mostly lackluster." He admits. "Is this... does this change things? Between us?"
no subject
He shrugs then, an embarrassed sort of gesture, before he hastily adds, "Not that I'm averse to it! If you're not averse to it. But if you are it's- you're hardly going to hurt my feelings, that's all, I just- don't want you to feel weird and stop hanging around me, is, um. All. That's all."
no subject
"I see... but what do you actually want though?" He asks, then glances up before admitting, "I think I'd like to... explore this. I certainly don't want to cut off contact, if that's what concerns you."
no subject
"Wait, was- was that your first kiss??"
no subject
And that question makes his brow raise. "Yes, why?" There's a 'duh' in his voice somewhere. "Is that a problem?"

Still, he shifts over at Martin's request. "I'll defer to the expertise you apparently have." Martin, casanova.

Of course kissing shuts him up, thank god, and given this one is a little less chaste he's starting to see what Martin meant. He pulls back eventually, a little flustered. Shockingly he's not very good at any of this. "Ah, I see."
no subject
He's equally flustered when he pulls away.
"So, um, right. That's.... Kissing."
no subject
He squares his shoulders and reaches up to touch Martin's jaw, only his fingertips in hesitant way that's ready to pull back at the word.

He glances back over after a moment, as if remembering to be embarrassed. "I just... don't want to cross a line. I've never- well, obviously it's new to me." The newest. He frowns slightly, remembering Martin's earlier mood as he pulls his hand up to brush at Martin's hairline. "I don't want to upset you."

When Martin moves over Jon rests his hand on the side of Martin's neck, leaning in and kissing back with the same attention to trying to learn the ins and outs of this as before. Look, if he was going to kiss someone he was going to learn how, ok. Besides, Martin seemed calmer than he had all evening, or at least less upset.
